It's coming down to the end of the year and the holidays are in full effect. Family and friends are gathering, cracking bottles, exchanging laughs and good times. I am truly blessed this year to have the friends and family I have around me. Thank you everyone for the love and support I've received from all of you this year. One more final to go for this semester and I'll be FREE.

Here's my plan of attack after Friday:

1. Speed out of the school parking lot course I made up in my head....the parking lot (when empty and raining) is a pretty tight course if you don't get caught and/or hit any students

2. Call up my drinking buddy and pick up a case of Golden Monkeys

....and the rest is all up to whatever the beer makes us do...eventually landing us in a pretty good ramen spot and proceed to a night of hanging out the windows on the freeway yelling, throwing up on myself, blacking out, waking up next to the toilet still drunk right before work starts

Anyways, surprisingly I was able to get some watercolor filled in during all these finals and work...she will be done in the next few days!

237_Bare Knuckles & All That Honky Tonk

Now that this semester is winding down to the last few weeks I've been trying to finish up projects I started but never finished. Such a waste if I wouldn't have finished these...

The most recent piece I'm finishing is in watercolor and colored pencil. It's the pin-up girl flash piece I did for Xavier's helmet with a Hell Bound script banner

The second piece is twice the size of the first one which I started over a year ago when I was in quarantine...don't ask

Originally the piece was only supposed to be in black ink but after completing it I took a step back and realized it doesn't have that WOW factor yet...dare I start coloring it in with mixed medians? I'll start slow and build up from colored pencils and we'll see if watercolor will help

AJ has been one of my best friends since I moved to Cali 16 years ago. We've perved over countless Import Tuners, Super Streets and a good amount of his dad's old Playboy videos. What more can 10 year-old boys ask for?!

I guess in adolescence you develop your future self with all the people and activities you do.

I wouldn't have had it any other way growing up down the street from AJ.

He was and still is one of the most laid back pervs I've ever had involved in my life. He may not know this but he's def one of the biggest influences in my life even till this day.

My car knowledge would've been stumped if it wasn't for him always wanting to do something to one of our cars.

In high school we found a whole flock of degenerates just likes us with the same passion for cars, boba, and illegal drifting in FF cars behind our local Stater Bros. and a strange fetish for Korean girls and dramas...but that's neither here or there

I remember when AJ first rolled into my driveway with his bright rally blue car. I already that this wasn't gonna stay stock or even carb legal for much longer.

We spent a lot of time under this car and a lot of time messing with his stand alone fuel management system. A lot of time dipping out on the local "strip" racing each other and other homies in Corona we grew up with.

So it's been a good 8 years since the day I saw that brand spankin' new WRX to become what it is today...this bright blue beauty that I bless you with today

Oh, so I got married.

No for reals, I did.

I am overwhelmingly happy too.

Sachi and I finally tied the knot last Tuesday afternoon. We've been waiting for the right moment to do it and the right date came along. There's a significant meaning to the date as well:

11.22 in Japanese can be read as "ii fuufu" which means "good married couple" which is the real meaning for getting hitched this day.

We had a small ceremony with the few people that matter to us the most. It's only a small ceremony for now but when we save up enough money for next year's ceremonies we'll make sure to invite all you party people! You got two options: Japan or America..or if you're ballin' you can attend both

I'll be back on this post after I have pumped a generous amount of liquor and beer in my system so I can get all soft and mushy with all the thank you's I need to shot out

Went shooting with Sean in DTLA for his landscape project. So glad the weather was on our side this day...man I love rainy/cloudy days, makes for awesome photography lighting.

I'm trying to make every opportunity to shoot something these days. I guess you can say I'm having artists'/photographer's block. I've been so lazy to even bring my camera these days but I have a new mission: to shoot everything at least ONCE, then come back to the same subjects and find different ways to shoot it.

Here's the few pictures I chose out of the whole batch which was over a hundred and over a few hours of driving, walking and shooting to get these shots

Lately I've been having these creative impulses to get out and do something more exciting, try new medians, techniques, different angles, lighting etc etc.

Being a designer is somewhat of a curse. Everything you see, touch and feel...you always question. For me, it's been a lot easier to channel out certain aspects of my life due to design.

I WANT QUALITY.

I have less patience and tolerance for poorly designed, unorganized, and insufficient people and objects. I think having ADHD has something to with it as well. I'm a perfectionist; nothing is ever "good enough" for me especially when someone else does it. I can be my own harsh critic and that's fine because I know myself enough to be able to control certain variables in my life to get the best results. Of course besides me there's my significant other who's the balance and leveler in my life.

Where I'm going with this, I have no fucking clue.

I guess age and career are starting to lure over my head and going through this whole process of the transition from being a student fucking around, partying and bullshit, working a part-time job to fulfill my weekend endeavors and such....to becoming an opportunist, setting goals and making the paper.

Working in the sushi game for 6 years now and working for my current sushi bar for over a year now has worn me the fuck out. Especially the past year since we got a Japanese-Bruce Lee wannabe-Predator haircut having-testosterone driven-poser-fuck face-washed up musician as our manager with 4 years less experience than me running the damn show. It's been nothing but a fucking dead end for me.

For once in my life, I'm finally starting to feel the second part of my life phase out and all the bullshit I don't need in it.

I've always been a people-person, and a lot of times being too nice and trying to find the good in people os just too much of a fucking task. Especially when people around my age who consider themselves "adults" act like fucking kids.

It's funny how all the shit-talkers like to congregate together with other shit-talkers who all share the common shit-talk. I guess they believe in strength in numbers.

My whole lifestyle's changing...I'm HUNGRY, and there's no more bullshit for me to take from anyone or anything so if you're ever looking for me, try finding me out there running with the wolves

Helmet Design Progress 11/7

おっす！

I'm winding down on the last stages of this project and I gotta say....it wasn't easy. I've painted a Dunny before and that was difficult to get my proportions right and it was all done freehand.

Transferring was key for this project. I was gonna just wing it and freehand this too but that was not gonna happen the way I would've wanted it.

All those years in elementary when they taught us the many uses of tracing paper and how to transfer paid off.

Got exactly what I wanted transferring but what surprised me the most was how well it looked after it was fully painted and boldly outlined. Unfortunately some smearing happened on the face but I was able to recover from it.

Got so inspired with what I had, the rest of the helmet was naked, especially the front...so to give it that complete fighter plane look I gave it some shark teeth and eyes to really set off the whole theme Xavier was going for.

Finishing the painting of the teeth and off to bake the clear coat on right after

Sachi found the GREATEST video ever. I'm a big fan of enka and this artist named Freddie pops up with a new genre of enka which he calls en-soul! AMAZING. This song I can relate to the most because, yeah, love IS waiting at Kansai airport....www

Although I didn't get to go to one of their live shows, I was able to get a private photo session at the local studio. First time being in a recording studio and didn't know what to expect. I've been to a few rock shows before but when you got headbanger's going wild in a small sound-proofed room...all the sound decibels go straight to your eardrum

The other band member couldn't show up, so it was an impromptu sesh between Daikun and Toshi

I hope the next time I visit Toshi I will actually have the honor of mosh-pitting or even crowd diving during their live performance

I know this event was shot like back in August but I had to post pics anyway, sorry for the crazy lag...I'm getting back into the blogging groove so bare with me

So for the past 3 years I've been part of Koyamasan's Bisha group for the Nissei Week parade in DTLA. We carry this heavy shrine called mikoshi on our shoulders, yell at the top of our lungs the whole way, and we bounce the shrine at the same time while trying not to run over each other in our formation

It feels like slave labor, real talk.

This year I didn't get to carry the mikoshi...ah darn...but I barely took any pics either. I was a dog sitter this year walking next to mikoshi and letting Sachi do all the picture taking for me.

Hats off to you missy, you had some pretty good shots. It seems that every year the Bisha-group manages a way to sneak alky onto the public streets of LA. This year was no exception. But compared to my first time carrying the mikoshi a few tears ago, I was sober as a kite...the only time I didn't have any work to do//

Daikokuya is one of our, and the probably the oldest, sister store. Ask anyone from LA which is the best spot in LA, they'll say Daikokuya....but I still say Shinsengumi in Rosemead and surprisingly the ramen at Shino's in Corona is pretty darn good.

Helmet Project Design Progress 10/21

Sprayed up with proper primer layers and a beautiful coat of Olive Green, the helmet is looking good. The rough texture and this shade of green give the helmet that old military look I was going for. At first the grey primer underneath slightly showing through looked nice, but after many failed attempts of painting the final designs on the helmet was tougher than I thought it was gonna be so I had to respray the helmet 3 times, thus loosing that effect I had achieved the first spray...

Another failed attempt was spraying a stencil of the famous Tombstone phrase...over spray SUCKS. The stencil didn't lay on the contours of the helmet so I got a nasty outline of the letters...

Fuck that. I got down to what I know best. Used then stencil to draw my guidelines then just straight hand painted with acrylics. The consistency kinda sucks but after a few extra dabs, patience, and a stoned steady hand I got a the technique and phrase down.

While I'm waiting on the paint to dry and everything, I'm getting the final look of the bomber pin-up girl painted in paper so my hand gets used to it.

A lot of trial and error but I'm pretty confident it'll pay off in the end....

...especially since my boy, Xavier, is gonna build me one just like his

In the past month, I've been slowly moving towards the end of the helmet project...I've been so damn slammed at work and with the semester moving towards midterms it's been "hard" (excuses excuses) to pick up a can or a brush and get this done.

Pressed with time and and lack of it, I find myself mixing cough syrup, 3 bottles of 5-Hour Energy, Gatorade and a few generous splashes of Jameson into my coffee cup to keep the midnight oil burning

Sleep? psh, who needs sleep...after this intoxicated heart attack kills me, I'll have all the time in the world to sleep

Ever since I was a kid, I've grown up always involved with sports. Being from Ohio, my parents, especially my dad has always been a die-hard Cleveland sports fan...even went to the World Series when the Indians played the Braves in '95.

I've always wanted to go to a Japanese baseball game. I've seen videos of the National High School tournament played at Koshien Stadium on YouTube. Heard stories from a grumpy Kansai dude at my work, super hardcore Tigers fan.

Tigers fans are notorious for causing a riot during games played against their rivals, the Tokyo Giants. Kinda like Lakers fans but not as violent or stupid...yeah they'll throw an occasional KFC statue into the river after winning the championship but it ain't no post-modern LA riot shit.

One time, and the only time...quite possibly her last time, Sachi's mom went to watch a Tigers game. During any Japanese baseball game, unlike the lazy drunken crowds like we have in America, the fans are very enthusiastic during the WHOLE game. They sing and chant their asses off. Even some of the players have their own signature crowd pleaser song. CRAZY.

So Sachi's mom was watching a game and was NOT participating...bad idea. So the old dude behind her whack her over the head with a inflatable plastic Tigers bat and orders her to stand up and sing with the rest of the crowd.

Imagine if she was a Giants fan sitting in the Tigers section....it would have been a thick, cold piece of steel swung at her neck

Being my first time, I thought it would be best and safest to disguise myself in Tiger uniform and avoid any conflicts with the hometown fans.

Blended right in, managed to pack a 6-pack of tall beers into my camera bag 'cause I ain't paying 7 bucks a beer in the stadium

Akashi Kaikyou Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the world (according to Wikipedia) and is located 30 minutes away from Himeji. It connects Kobe the mainland Honshu to the Awaji Island.

It was a short little trip with Okaachan and she LOVES taking me out sightseeing...she has a fear of heights so for her to get on the giant gondola with Sachi and I was an honor.

Awaji Island is famous for their tamanegi. You name it, onion sake, onion soup, onion noodles, psh even onion body lotion.

After a long day on the island and on the highway, I couldn't have had it end any other way than a ice chilled cups of Special Orion X with Okaachan...aka my favorite drinking buddy

Chubby Boob HQ LA

The new Chubby Boob HQ is located at the old Brewery in LA.

Not knowing what to expect, we walked up to the old rustic building searching for signs of the location of the HQ...indistinct bass and the smell of Mary Jane was at the end of the hallway.

BINGO.

A crowd of fixed bikes and riders occupied the entire front of the complex. Good seeing the LA homies everytime CB has an event. Everyone's still just as faded as we were years ago.

My favorite part of the new HQ was definitely the toy collection and the unofficial dance studio in Joe's room...after minimizing the toy hoarding to a small army of Qee's every collector would die for, the room was a legit look...especially the balcony where I flashed everyone my ass

Working at a sushi bar in Downtown Covina provides two major things in my life: memory losses after work and creative outlets of my talent

I've met all sorts of locals, from Mongols to strippers named Dolly...very loyal regulars

A good friend of mine who I met through Bishamon from my humble beginnings behind the board, recently got into building cafe racer motorcycles

What a fine builder he became to be! Very impressive piece of machinery it came out to be...every bit of detail built, resourced out, and polished. One of the cleanest bikes I've seen, especially since every guy in Covina with a handlebar mustache is riding a loud ass hog with sleeveless leather

My new canvas for this project is a KBC Stealth Helmet...looking forward to painting up this helmet for the bike show in early September

Our last and final stop on our 2-day tour of the Kansai area was Umeda and Kyoto. I was hoping to get a shot of the same place I was 3 years ago during the summer. Got to the spot but the sakura had already been deflowering...it was a king stretch but I figured the time we went I wasn't gonna be able to get the full bloom scenery of the temple

Umeda was legit, even though we really only passed through on our way to the station to get to Kyoto. Next time I plan on sightseeing more of Umeda, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori are ghetto compared to Umeda, the Beverly Hills of Osaka

On our way to Kyoto we spotted the Meiji factory! Home of Japan's finest chocolate

Finally got to Kyoto station, had quite a bit of trouble lugging around our luggage trying to find some decent space to lock our belongings. All lockers were full and we were tired of carrying it all around but luck may have it that they had a luggage company that's cheaper and more convenient.

Along our bus ride, Sachi and I spotted an awkward couple, a Japanese girl with pigtails and dressed like an asian schoolgirl fetish porn actress and a gargantuous white tourist guy...we teased about his yellow fever all the way up to the temple hoping the naughty situation was gonna pop off...this story might seem random but the funny part is how I totally saw the SAME girl at a gift shop at the Osaka airport a week later, I'm guessing she "poaches" the arriving passengers

the driver opened the door while driving while I was leaning...well pressed against the door and almost fell out with camera and all...

We got lazy with the last part of the trip and decided to head home to get some grub with okaachan and to play some GT5...obaachan should have never got us that PS3

I love Kobe, straight up. Sachi and I have been evaluating where our possible nest will be in the next few years (hopefully) and Kobe is on the top of our list right now. If possible working anywhere near central Kansai would be heaven for me, that or if we have to....eh, Tokyo most likely.

Everything was just peachy until it drizzled for the whole day after we arrived, so we stayed in after a quick run in Kobe before it got too wet outside. Managed to get a few good shots but next year I'm on a mission to get the Kobe Port Tower and Harbor Land

Kobe has gotta be the cleanest city I've seen in Japan.

第六＿神戸に行っての初めて

First time in Kobe, always wanted to see Harbor Land but I guess someone up there wanted to rain on my parade...sucked but still had a blast with Sachi's old school friend Tomoko. She lives really close to all the bars and a block away from Round 1.

First thing we did was head out to an izakaya, forgot the name...eh, but here this, all-you-can-eat AND drink for only 25 bucks. That sounds like all-you-can-party to me. Overloaded on Johnny Walker and Suntory whisky...gave me rollover drunk the next morning/day

I was so impressed with how things were in Kobe, not too much of the Tokyo rush, still a lot of people and homosexual cosplayers, a lot of bars, izakayas, and after hour spots, perfect amount of city for me personally. Oh to live in Kobe, fingers crossed.

Right before the end of the cherry blossom season, we went to a little river area that was glazed with white sakura. We picked up bento from the new Ishioka favorite, Hotto Motto...feasted and crushed a few cans of beer. Sachi's mom is so funny because I know at times like these she would love to pound down a few ice colds but since she's driving she's very cautious about drinking and driving, so she resorts to non-alcohol beer...haha so responsible yet she accomplishes to feed her thirst for the taste of beer

Destiny may have it that Sachi and I happened to have been looking for a shiba while we were Japan...and we just happened to be on the way to one Kansai's top shiba inu breeders. I've seen a few shibas in person in the past few years but being at the kennel was impressive...and stunk

I'll agree, night shots were better.

Although nice soft ambient lighting wasn't on a platter for me, I went for the "nifty-fifty" if you understand lame photography forum terms....I love this lense, I actually got it on accident...an old friend gave me their barely used Canon EOS 100QD, yeah a model from the wonder years...the body was crap, but the lense was GOLD. Snapped it on my DSLR and did magic for the past few years.

Third and last time to be blessed with ramen from the gods. Thanks to this ramen shop, I despise ALL ramen in America...all instant noodles to me now

I've been so syked on Toshi working at one of Kansai's notorious reigning champ shops of ramen. I thought I had the BEST ramen the last time I went and had ramen in Kumamoto but this bowl of tonkotsu ramen with thick, oily, spicy broth soaked in fresh chopped garlic definitely rings the KO bell on my previous statement; Zundouya one up on the entire world.

To make things more interesting and give me another reason to come and eat a bowl or two, I shot once during the day, but damn was it dead. No orders = no pictures

God how I hate posting up food/restaurant reviews on an empty stomach...

Memorial Weekend Shoot

Finals are coming up, like 2 weeks of actual class time and lab and the last 3rd week's gonna be final critiques and one scantron exam. For this project I planned it out a lot earlier to not have to rush through this shoot. I have mentoring my friend and co-worker Sho, who happens to have a LEGIT Nikon D90

Theme for this shoot was bright color contrast and rules apply that we must use one specific color schema. Basically a summary of all the elements of color photography we learned in the class: mood, schemas, color balance etc. etc.

We're allowed up to 3 shots if we're telling a story or making some kind of connection between the 3 images. Mine don't really tell one so I gotta choose just ONE.

#1_I like the summer feel of this picture, the complimentary colors and the grain. Accurate feeling and mood of Memorial Weekend

#2_This was my original picture I chose but after long comparative objective analysis I chose the first one

#3_I was so stoked on the outfit, cosplay at the beach...a waiter commented on her outfit lol

#4_I like how the analogous colors compliment her natural skin tone which blends into her hat and hair

I took about 80 shots all together, had a steady flow throughout the whole shoot, poor Moco had to change in the car while me and Matt my lighting assistant for the day waited outside...nice weather, really unfamiliar with the whole area but we managed to find a few locations.

Note to self: study and know your location and it's geography

第四＿桜を見ての初めて

Settling in back into my Covina circadian rhythm wasn't easy these past few weeks so I've been trying to get back into my steady workflow again.

Spring is my favorite season in Japan, hands down.

The weather is a bit chilly. During the day is awesome for riding bikes everywhere and it's legal to drink and ride! Well at least I thought it was?...

This was my first time seeing cherry blossoms which was awesome, it gave me a nostalgic impression which reminded me of snow. With the beer keeping me warm throughout our tour of Himeji Castle, the afternoon went on with endless shooting in and around the perimeter of the castle.

If words couldn't express the beauty and feeling of this experience, then don't expect it from this blog because even pictures wouldn't do 100% justice

My prior suggestion was that sakura was more of a pinkish pigment but they're actually quite white. I was informed that there IS another specimen of cherry blossom that IS pink but in contrast to the white cherry blossom trees, this one's branchs sag and hang much like a willow tree.

I've spent a lot of time in Himeji the past few weeks and I'm still NOT bored. It's smaller than the other big cities like Kobe and Osaka, but home is where the beer is cold with a freezing beer glass in the refrigerator.

I love riding bikes down to the ekimae (train station area). There's always a restaurant that catches my attention and that's probably every 5 steps I take.

Sorry, I had to stop and pics of these gems. I've always been a big fan of cars, first it was the whole JDM scene circa 2001, had a few runs with 3 different cars, miss my Integra STILL...tried doing a monster Trueno, then had a hand-me-down 91 Honda Accord aka "The White Beast." That was my favorite, it was like my bedroom on wheels. Super low-key car, I could drive drunk as fuck across the country and not once be suspected to be intoxicated in THAT thing...

Time to get VIP'd up but when my 95 GS300 went to shits, I gave up. I was looking at kits, wheels, paint, and suspension and all those to get me to phase 1 of how I wanted my car to look like was looking at a price tag of 10,000 buckaroos...

...fuck that, I'm just gonna daily drive it stock with a stupid system.

Hence, the end of me and the import scene...but NOW, since I'm behind a good investment of lenses and camera equipment, I'm gonna be doing the poor man thing and take pics of other rich, spoiled kids' cars that mommy and daddy paid for...*insert sarcasm*

I gotta get on it and take more time to get some more pics of the rad ass rides in Japan. They don't got muscle cars like we do in America but they got sweet ass old school bosozoku style oldies...we got muscle, they got crazy stance and spool

I got this horrible obsession with purikura. Go ahead, LAUGH. No I don't use Sachi as an excuse either, I'm the one who drags her to these. It's so fucking cheesy these days in Japan...they're no fun. It's fun if you're a kyabajou and you wanna sell your pussy on the internet...or you're having a girls night out and you're wearing 20lbs. of make-up. These damn machines have revolutionized towards this crowd, it's not for little jr. high kids anymore...or is it?

Is Japan trying to mature their 12 year-olds that quick now?! oh god, please don't let me get aroused by the thought of that...it's not right. When we're out in the shopping arcades, I'm totally people watching. EVERYONE is Japanese, barely any gaijin, and the girls in their high school uniforms look no older than 11...don't even wanna mention my thoughts on skirts and loose socks

...ughh where the fuck was I going with that?

Purikura is a reasonable 400 yen out here compared to our 10 dollar ones in Diamond Bar run by Taiwanese...I'm gonna splurge as much as a I can from now on

The past few days have gone by so slow and I ain't complaining because I know when it's getting closer to the time I gotta go back to LA I'm gonna get HEAVY anxiety and it's gonna suck ass...

So on our free time after waking up at 2pm we do the usual routines: bike to the konbini load up on fried snacks and onigiri, lounge in the kotatsu room while playing PS3, drink beer, wait for Okaachan to get home, drink with her, go out with Obaachan, do some shopping..usually for more beer and otsumame...go home and repeat...all of THAT and in between I find myself getting bored with my camera taking pictures aimlessly so I don't feel like I'm wasting time on pics I could be taking.

I've found the perfect model to fill my boredom void.

I've only seen a sneak peak of some of "his" AV pics from Sachi and I didn't think the photos served justice for such an aspiring model.

After numerous cans of beers and packs of otsumame, me and Okaasan have been conversing more often about random shit...for example, how to cuss her co-worker out in English, how much Sachi, her brother, and her dad love to do absolutely nothing while we clean, how over-organized we are and how uncomfortable we are about a mess

We're almost EXACTLY the same, even the way we pin our bills together...CRAZY

Anyways, the house cat's been wrecking the shouji (Japanese paper for the sliding doors) so Okaasan was in the process of redoing it...now this is my kind of chore I won't get sick of. Deep down inside, I WILL ADMIT THIS: I'm a scrapbooker, well an aspiring one at that, and yes I have done a few projects and even joined a Sunday morning scrapbook club in Corona for a bit...so I definitely get a kick out of hot press

Sorry to all my loyal readers and subscribers. I have been tied up playing Killzone 3 and GT5...damnit, I knew getting them would distract me from my priorities. Toshi has a interesting circle of friends and acquaintances which I haven't all met but can only hear of. I was able to meet 2 of his friends which are heavy into ink and one works under the 3rd Hori of Prick Room.

I give you Daiei. First time we met, as Japanese all are upon meeting them, was timid. We haven't yet to clank glass and take shots till we vomit our intestines. But we both have the capabilities of speaking better foreign languages when we're heavily intoxicated...that and we have tendencies of public nudity.

He made the call when one of his ongoing clients who also happens to be Toshi's vocalist in their band, was scheduled to get filled in on his full back piece.

I'm not a big fan of dragons and koi's but I gotta appreciate the style of his art. It's not like their a bunch of bro's tatting nautical stars and spider webs intertwined with koi fish and wave bars on each other

Finally here and settled!

For lack of better expression, HIMEJI IS FUCKING AWESOME!

Since day one, I've received so much love and kindness from every member of my future in-laws. The language barrier may get in the way of normal conversation but we manage to get the point across to each other. I now regret not brushing up properly with Sachi at home before the trip but this experience definitely brings out the best of my abilities.

Getting married in two different worlds is a trip. The whole process is a trip. I can really appreciate this time with the Ishioka's, they're the Japanese version of my family! Instead of having sisters, Sachi had two very interesting brothers who I can initiate into my "wolfpack" (if you don't get it I feel bad for you, they're coming out with a sequel in Thailand)

Himeji is a calm rural/urbanish city, pretty big compared to the shit hole I live in in Covina...with plenty of convenient stores and izakayas for me to smash on. I don't give a damn about what I eat, how much I eat and how drunk I am in public because public intoxication is welcomed with a red carpet while they sprinkle gold all over it and a line of naked super models await with arms and legs spread wide open for you

The streets and common traffic trip me out. Japanese lanes are equivalent in size to ONE lane in California. Get this, there's no lines on the side streets, you have to not be an asshole and pull to the side to let the other cars pass. In contrast, you stick Americans in a Japanese street and hell is bound to break loose, every in America is a dick, admit it, you wouldn't give way for another person to pass right? psh, who are they to take YOUR lane

Sachi's mom picked us up from the airport. We walked around the airport to find some grub, the shitty chinese plane food was turning my poo into yellow rubber. Japanese airports, well Osaka in particular, have a fancy little shopping area with gift shops and an array of delicious restaurants. Not like LAX, the prices are damn reasonable! Shit, why even leave the airport now when you get the whole experience right below the terminal?

I've been a good boy so time to get naughty...one gallon of Kirin on tap please. Japan has the best sizes of beer, they really know how to make me NOT wanna go back to LA...better beer, better food, and air I can breathe without getting cancer.

I'm jumping a little ahead of the process, anxious to see how the watercolour behaves in comparison to acrylics and oils

I'm seeing a bit of what I lacked in art class but quickly finding solutions. I don't wanna waste good paper for scrap so I used some vellum. The watercolour absorbs a lot better and is more malleable on the D'arches, more forgiving than the vellum

Anyways, got a few splashes of color here and there, haven't finished a complete black outline yet but all is progressing quite pleasantly

On a heavier note, my school started this Monday which happens to be my birthday...eh, sucked. Been celebrating my birthday since Saturday night, had endless hangovers and rollover drunkeness including my first MANDATORY day of school. Class started at 8, slept at 330 from drinking...woke up AT 8 STILL drunk as fuck, swerved my ass all the way to school, showed up 30 minutes late, made it before I got dropped and left the class 3 times to yack...yup it has been one hell of a bang coming out of my 24th year

This is a totally new median for me. I've done some work in art class with it, sucked ass, tossed my pieces out the window on the freeway and gave my watercolors to my little sister

Now that all the ill feelings towards watercolors subsided I'm gonna give one more legit try. I'm gonna need a lot of patience for this, I'm a horrible painter...

Right now I'm only using super black indian ink to practice a steady hand and pen angles for drawing. Messed around with shading as well...one more trip to Blick and my next project will be on it's way

After a long 4 months, 2 months rather stagnant, the last 2 on and off in between work...my "Marina" piece is finally done!

This is the epitome of my work. My best so far, the piece I've put my heart and soul into day by day...constantly breaking through my barriers

This is the first piece I've never had negative or discouraging feelings during the process. I personally feel a huge growth in my art and it's encouraging more creativeness in the future

Blogging my progress definitely helps. I used to only blog events I've taken pictures of but I realized that my standard for my blog was waaaaay to high....so I said fuck it, blogs are meant for spontaneity on a daily basis

I wasn't satisfied with all the blank space around her head so I took a leap and sketched in some wave bars to see how it would look behind her...

Then I wanted a few sakura around to add some movement...BOOM. Picture looked better but the original piece seemed to faded and monotone

If you're not my comrade on facebook then you probably don't know I'm addicted to two things: ASS and NATTO

Natto is not socially accepted in the American food world. Some say it even tastes like the smell of garbage...the slimy texture and after taste is revolting and so on

But to me, it's gold. Fermented gold.

My fiancé will not kiss me after I've indulged in a case of natto...so I gotta eat it on my own time, hours prior to planning a wet smooch

I'm getting experimental with my palette. Natto, my favorite platform, is always the main ingredient...start with that, add Kewpie and the rest just goes on top.

And here we are my friends...the final stages of my piece!

I'm at the stage of cleaning up the edges, darkening lines and shadows, and preparing for the final mounting process

I fucked up on the beveled edge of the inside frame between the glass and picture unfortunately...FUCK

I carefully masked off the white part of the frame I didn't want colored black right? Marked in the edges with a black felt tip and after removing the masking tape I come to find that the fucking ink bled through and fucked it up! FUCK

So I gotta wait till tomorrow to take a final, legit picture of the piece framed...

But here's the pearl floral necklace from Sachi's vanity and the ruffled shoulder sleeves I added

I'm so close to finishing this piece but I've been going astray because I wanna add a little more touch here and there every 5 minutes...fuck, being one of my best pieces yet, I wanna do as much to it as I possibly can

The face is done, the earrings and accessories are endless! I've been studying jewelry for a week now trying to figure out the best possible design for her

I'm exaggerating a little much on purpose but I think it'll start distracting the main focus...so I've decided to spread it out a bit around the picture plane...POSSIBLY add a floral background to give it sense of space

The earrings were a bitch...I'm an amateur when it comes to understanding negative space...but I managed enough, but now I might just have to delete what I have somewhat accomplished...

Sachi's got this necklace I'm in love with...black, gold and pearls are so appealing to me so I'm gonna have Marina wear the piece

Here's a little sample of what I wanna put in the background as well...I was thinking some sakura with wave bars drawn my way but debating if it'll look tacky...

Lately Sachi and I are trying to cook healthier Japanese food at home so we've been doing a lot of soups and vegetables...and since I didn't have a chance to eat some nabe at our nabe party...we had our own little nabe for the two of us

Damn, my everyday blogging streak just ended...I've been 3 days absent? Shit, I've been legitimately busy working and getting my ass settled for next semester

I have absolutely no OFF day starting my birthday...fuck, first day of class with a hangover or about to get one

Looking forward to a photo-friendly semester...all photo classes and an Illustrator class

During the past few months of being creatively stagnant I've finally found a spark to start AND finish more personal projects

I go to Japan in a few months and I'm gonna be on a hella strict drinking diet till then...can't spend any money, gotta start running, brush up on my Japanese...especially Kansai-ben

Moving along now...to the hair. I love drawing hair. My hand naturally flows in such a wavy fashion...that's why I sucked at architecture...you have to measure and be precise, you're pretty much your arch scales' bitch

I took a still life drawing class with cousin Teddy...ripped every goddamn day. Our teacher Amy Runyen was hella down

She never called us out for smelling so "herbal" or acting a fool. She knew what was up but we kept our shit together and we passed with A's

That was my most unrememborable/ memorable class ever. Every other week Teddy, me and sometimes Haruka would get smashed and venture off into any kind of Japanese cuisine we could find after class

We tried to poison Haruka with some space muffins but she was smart enough to sniff out the suspicious muffins we baked for art class

Oh how I miss those project critiques on muffins...

We scored free tickets to watch a taping of Lopez Tonight yesterday...featuring Seth Rogen who didn't show up, some weird looking broad from the show Big Love, and performing there homo-erotic single Maybe, by the Sick Puppies.

Whack. They taped the Seth Rogen segment last week! So there goes my main event...

But being surrounded by what looked like a "Covina" made us stand out. The e-mail that was sent to me about dress code seemed to me that dress code was STRICTLY enforced, dressy casual, collar shirts a must, they demanded "trendy."

Fools were showing up in blank ass colored tee's looking like they're ready to go shopping at Wal-mart...

Thanks to those people, we were blessed with VIP passes to sit second row to the front...they want good looking people to be seen on tv apparently

"Marina" pt.2: shading & inspiration

Coming along, satisfied with my progress so far. Started on the her head piece...slow but steady.

I've always been a big fan of flapper chics. Ah the roaring 20's...women flaunted their disdain for society.

Women were sassy, drank, smoked Chesterfields, screwed blokes left and right...women were rebels and they were damn sexy

Many of my pieces are inspired by pin-up, I love the realism conjured in with pop-art.

When it comes down to my style of pin-up I tend to incorporate more SURREALISM. Kamikaze vacuum cleaners, gas masked beauties, eroticism...I'm intrigued by sexual deviance

Moving along now...my sister's boyfriend brought me over a 6-pack of tall High Life's.

They were brilliantly decorated with one hot ass babe done up possibly in airbrush...real Vargas feel.

Knocked a few of those back and watched my favorite live performance on SNL:

Last semester, Sachi was taking a jazz class and was assigned to go out and venture off and report on 3 jazz bars.

I felt hella snazzy. Real class act.

I love the atmosphere. The people were way older than us and majority were "not of color." We stood out pretty bad...young, asian, "well-groomed?"
